Working Hard

Our first big assignment was drawling ourselves. As a class we put Miss Phillips up on the board. I won't post that picture because my drawling skills are not the best, but the kids did great helping me to remember ALL of the details on my body. Here are some pictures of my friends drawling themselves!

When they were done we talked about reading books. A lot of my friends were not sure about reading. We talked about looking at the pictures and how they tell a story. Some friends choose to read beside a friend.

Others needed help figuring out the story. These two are talking about the page they are on and what could be happening in the picture!

It always helps to have one more friend to talk about it with.

Our class is big so our Art table has been turned into another place to read stories at. My friends grab chairs or even crates to sit on and enjoy a book!

Dance Dance!

One way I keep the kids engaged all day is by giving them breaks. One of their favorites is the dance videos on the big screen! I just type in Just Dance Kids and a video like this comes up.

The kids follow the people on the screen. The kids love that they can sing along to the song and move around before we get right back to learning!

The pictures did not turn out, but you can see how much fun they are having!

Morning Work

Want to know what we do while we are waiting for the rest of our friends to come in from breakfast? Here are some lovely pictures of our friends working hard to wake their brains up.

To some this might seem like just playing, but these morning activities wake us up! Also as the year goes on this will be our AR testing time so students will have the choice to read also.

Book Boxes!

Thanks to a wonderful donation from the community I was able to get these magazine holders! The holders are going to be used so that the students can put books they are reading in them. Today I let each of them decorate a part of their holder.
Starting tomorrow each child will be able to find their box and pick a spot in the classroom to read a book. That way anytime they have some free time they something to do! This allows me to spend the time I need helping those students who need some extra time and guidance!
Here is our picture after we all colored in our boxes! Talk about a lot of smiling faces! This is what I see every time we sit on the carpet!

If you want something to talk about with your child today. Ask them how we learned to glue (dot, dot, not a lot) and what color are their crayons . We even had a little extra recess, which they all loved!
